What is Wushu?
When translated directly from Mandarin, Wushu means military art.
Therefore, Wushu means the art of fighting or martial art. Every movement
in Wushu must exhibit sensible combat application and aestheticism.
To date, Wushu has gained Olympic recognition and is widely practiced
around the world. It was once, one of the best kept secrets of China, but
is now making a bold entry into mainstream sport by appealing to
practitioners and spectators that strive for intensity, acrobatics, speed,
power and martial skill.
Wushu is a term used to describe the many different styles of Chinese
martial arts. Some of the popular styles include: Long Fist, Southern Fist,
Praying Mantis, Drunken Fist, Monkey Fist as well as a wide assortment of
traditional Chinese weaponry.
Lion Dance Troupe:
The Lion Dance is a traditional Chinese custom that brings good luck. The
troupe performs for grand openings, banquets, festivals, community events
and fundraisers as a celebratory event. The size of the lion dance troupe
depends on the number of lions requested. A basic performance consists of 5
people - 3 musicians and 2 dancers.
Price will vary according to location, length of performance, and the
number of lions.
Wushu Performance Team:
This team offers breath-taking martial arts performances tailored to
specific needs of an event. It consists of members ranging from the ages
8-25. Performances may consist of choreographed fighting sequences,
individual and group sets displaying the diversity of Wushu, and background
acrobatics/stunt work for live stage or filmed performances.
Price varies according to the location, length of performance, number of
performers requested, and additional material if needed.
For a booking of any performance team, a 25% non-refundable deposit is
required before the performance date. Discounts are available for dual team
bookings or multiple bookings.

Man Yi Mark
Head
Coach
Man Yi began training Wushu at the age of 14 under the tutelage of Li
Wenqii, head coach of the Mongolian Wushu Team. She captured the Canadian
National Female Duo Shu title in 1997 and was a member of the Canadian
National Team from 1997-1999.
Man Yi has over 8 years of coaching experience and has trained numerous
athletes that competed locally, nationally and performed with international
singers and actors as background performers.
Jonathan Louie
Head Coach
Jonathan has over 10 years of martial arts experience and over 4 years of
coaching experience. Over the 6 past years, Jonathan has placed
consistently in the top 4 of each of his events nationally. He is currently
a member of the 2003-2005 Canadian National Team and represented Canada in the Pan American Championship held
in Washington D.C. July 2004. Jonathan's performance
resume includes "Night of the Dragon" with Jackie Chan, U8TV,
Toronto Arts Weeks and the Liza Wond concert.
